The University of Northampton (UON) Fund

The University of Northampton (UON) Fund, previously named The University of Northampton Bursary, provides financial support to UK undergraduate students from areas of high socio-economic deprivation. For students commencing full-time undergraduate courses in 2025/26, the fund offers a £500 automatic payment in the final year (level 6) of study. In the first year, eligible students receive a benefits package including either a laptop, catering credit, or £500 accommodation discount. The fund is designed to support students throughout their degree journey, with eligibility based on residence in specific postcode areas identified as having high socio-economic deprivation (IMD Q1/2) rather than household income. The payment is made automatically without requiring a separate application, and students do not need to repay the funds. Payments are distributed based on course start dates, typically in March for September starters, July for January starters, and November for April starters.
