About this opportunity
The Valerie Joan Beale Bequest is an undergraduate coursework scholarship established in 2018 to support students experiencing financial hardship at the University of Sydney. The scholarship facilitates and supports student participation in University of Sydney courses by providing financial assistance to domestic students who can demonstrate financial need or disadvantage.
The scholarship is valued at $8,500 per year and is tenable for up to 5 years, covering the published full-time duration of the recipient's undergraduate degree. Recipients must maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 50 each semester and remain enrolled in their course. The scholarship can be held while studying part-time, with recipients receiving 50% of the full-time payment if enrolled in less than 18 credit points per semester.
This scholarship was generously donated by Valerie Joan Beale and is awarded based on evidence of financial need or disadvantage and academic merit. The annual value is paid in two equal installments after the census date of each semester. Deferral and suspension are permitted for up to two semesters, and the scholarship is transferable to another undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney through internal transfer.
