About This Opportunity

The William John and Lizzie May Sinclair Scholarship is an undergraduate scholarship valued at $25,000 per year supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students or students from a low socio-economic background who are studying engineering at the University of Sydney. This scholarship was established in 2012 by a bequest from Mr William Robson Sinclair, in honour of his parents, and with the generous support of the Donaldson and Kinston families. The scholarship provides financial support for the full duration of the undergraduate engineering degree, including combined degrees and an additional honours year if required. Payments are made fortnightly on a pro-rata basis based on enrolled units of study successfully completed at credit grade or above. For indigenous students, an additional amount of up to $15,000 per annum is available to provide necessary mentoring and tutoring support. Recipients must maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 65 each semester to continue receiving the scholarship. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic merit and either confirmation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identity or evidence of financial need and hardship. Preference is given to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, followed by financially disadvantaged students.
