About this opportunity
The Worshipful Company of Cordwainers Scholarship supports students enrolled in the Footwear Design Programme at De Montfort University. The Worshipful Company of Cordwainers, whose roots date back to 1272, are shoemakers originally known for their highly skilled craftsmanship using the finest goatskin leather from Cordoba in Spain. Today, the Company maintains a strong charitable ethos with a primary focus on nurturing young talent in the fashion and shoemaking industries.
The scholarship provides £3,000 per year of study for students pursuing the Footwear Design BA(Hons) degree at De Montfort University. This continuing support from the Worshipful Company of Cordwainers is central to the success of the Footwear Design Programme in preparing students for their future roles in industry.
To be eligible, students must be home/fee paying students with a UK Student Support Number, have made DMU their firm choice for the first year of the Footwear Design BA(Hons) programme, demonstrate financial need with household income up to £50,000, and be self-funding with no other donor or university funded scholarship. The scholarship is paid in instalments once per term and requires students to maintain attendance, complete assessments, and engage with progress update requests.
