About this opportunity
The Zeller Summer Scholarship in Medicinal Botany is designed to encourage U.S. undergraduate students to expand their knowledge of medicinal botany by pursuing summer study in various projects, courses, and/or internships with supervision and structure. The scholarship provides $3,000 to one student annually for summer study following any undergraduate year. The scholarship was established by Caroline Brown through the Monroe (Louisiana) Garden Study League, in collaboration with Dr. James Miller from the Missouri Botanical Garden. Originally called the Caroline Brown Fund, it was renamed the Zeller Medicinal Botany Fund to honor deceased members of Mrs. Brown's family. The scholarship has been offered since 2003, with the first award supporting study during the summer of 2004. Selection is made by members of the GCA Scholarship Committee, with a medicinal botanist also serving on the selection committee.
