About This Opportunity

The Opportunity Scholarship is designed specifically for undocumented students who live in locked-out states where they effectively have no access to college – either because they face paying out-of-state tuition or because their state will simply not admit them into its universities. The scholarship program serves students from 22 targeted states including Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. The scholarship award helps cover tuition, fees, on-campus housing, and meals at one of TheDream.US Partner Colleges out of state, up to a maximum of $100,000 for a bachelor's degree. The award follows students through the completion of a bachelor's degree and is renewable each year, provided recipients meet continuing eligibility criteria including continuous full-time enrollment. Eligible students must be first-generation immigrants who are currently undocumented with or without DACA or TPS, came to the United States before November 1, 2020, entered before age 16, have significant unmet financial need, graduated or will graduate from high school with a GPA of 2.5 or better, and intend to relocate and live on campus at an Opportunity Partner College. Partner colleges include Christian Brothers University, Delaware State University, Dominican University, Eastern Connecticut State University, and Trinity Washington University. The scholarship is not available to students receiving or eligible for the Federal Pell Grant. Applications for the 2026-27 round open November 1, 2025 and close January 31, 2026, with notifications sent in mid-March 2026.
