About This Opportunity

The Therle Drake Postgraduate Scholarship is available annually to postgraduate students enrolled at Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music at Victoria University of Wellington. The scholarship provides funding for students to attend a short course, concert, and/or masterclass in Europe, North America, or Australia. All instrumentalists are eligible, though preference may be given to piano students. The scholarship was established in 2013 through a bequest made by John Drake in memory of his wife, Therle. Applications are accepted twice yearly with closing dates of 31 March and 15 November. The award amount of $15,000 each round may be split among recipients depending on need and available funds. Recipients must remain enrolled in their postgraduate program and are expected to engage with and contribute to the New Zealand School of Music community through participation in ensembles, presentations, or performances.
