About this opportunity
The Thom Nugent Memorial Scholarship has been established to honour the life of Thom Nugent, a dedicated and passionate young man who passed away in November 2016. Thom was 26 years old and loved the science of nature from an early age, which transferred into the study of chemistry and biology in adulthood. He commenced studying the Bachelor of Science at Federation University in 2014.
The scholarship is valued at $4,000 and supports one student undertaking a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in the disciplines of Chemistry or Biology at Federation University's Ballarat location. Preference is given to final year students or Honours students. The scholarship commemorates Thom's passion for science and his commitment to supporting people and the community through volunteering with organizations such as Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experiences (AIME), Rotary, and Golden Key.
This memorial scholarship aims to support students who share Thom's passion for scientific study in chemistry and biology, helping them achieve excellence in their Honours year. Recipients join a legacy of past scholars dating back to 2017, continuing Thom's dedication to academic excellence and community service.
