About this opportunity
The Thomas J Nelson Sr Scholarship was established in memory of Thomas J Nelson Sr, a long-time Wenatchee resident who worked in finance for Cashmere Valley Bank and Leonard Evans Auto, owned and managed Nelson Apartments, and served as an officer and director for RE Nelson Co, Roy Nelson Farms, and the Roy and Leona Nelson Foundation. The Nelson Foundation has awarded hundreds of college scholarships to Eastern Washington and North Idaho students and grants to local charities over the years.
This scholarship honors Tom's service to the Nelson Foundation over the last 20 years. It supports graduating seniors or previous graduates from high schools in Chelan, Douglas, or Okanogan counties in Washington who demonstrate financial need and plan to pursue higher education. The scholarship is available for students attending 4-year universities, community colleges, or trade programs.
Applicants must be full-time students and meet specific GPA requirements depending on their chosen educational path. Students attending 4-year programs must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA, while those attending community college or trade school must have at least a 2.5 GPA. The scholarship application opens January 1st and is due March 1st annually.
