About this opportunity

This is a grant program for private individuals and foundations who own and manage cultural heritage sites in the West Norwegian Fjord Landscape – Nærøyfjord sub-area, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The grant scheme helps fulfill Norway's obligations under UNESCO's World Heritage Convention and ensures that World Heritage areas develop as beacons of best practice in natural and cultural heritage management regarding condition, management, and formal protection. The program supports projects and measures that contribute to preserving the outstanding universal values defined in the inscription document through restoration and sustainable use. Priority is given to initiatives that strengthen heritage management, stimulate local engagement and ownership, communicate World Heritage values, promote craft techniques and traditional restoration methods, support sustainable tourism and business activities, contribute to research and new knowledge, and address risk management including fire safety and climate preparedness.
