About this opportunity

This grant program supports the preservation of profane (non-ecclesiastical) medieval buildings in Vestland county, Norway. The goal is to maintain some of the world's oldest wooden buildings and preserve both their physical integrity and the intangible cultural heritage of traditional building craftsmanship. The program provides funding for restoration and heavy maintenance work that helps maintain buildings at a normal maintenance level while preserving their source value. Funding is also available for documentation, knowledge development, and research on medieval buildings. The grants are specifically targeted at privately owned automatically protected buildings from the medieval period (before 1537), though other owners of protected buildings from before 1537 may also apply in special cases.
