About this opportunity

Bodø kommune offers grants to combat three invasive plant species that threaten Norwegian biodiversity. The subsidy scheme is a collaboration between the Governor of Nordland and supported by Avinor. Grants are available for groups, school classes, or associations to conduct volunteer work days against invasive plant species including Tromsøpalme (giant hogweed), kjempebjørnekjeks, Hagelupin (garden lupin), and Kjempespringfrø. Each work day takes approximately 2-3 hours and will be assigned a work leader who is available for help and guidance on the day. The work involves digging up roots, weeding, and/or mowing. Required equipment includes shovels, gloves, full coverage clothing, and plastic bags. The subsidy is paid after the volunteer work has been completed, with a maximum grant of NOK 5,000 per volunteer work day. Applications are processed on a rolling basis.
