About this opportunity

This grant program provides funding for fire protection measures in dense wooden house areas of cultural-historical value in Trøndelag, Norway. The program contributes to the national goal that fires with loss of irreplaceable national cultural values should not occur. For dense wooden house areas, the goal is that all areas should have a fire safety plan and that all measures in the plan should be implemented. The main responsibility for fire safety is a municipal responsibility, both administratively and economically. Funding is distributed by application for measures within the following main categories: fire detection, preventing fire spread, simple fire suppression, and developing fire safety plans. Building and facility owners within dense wooden house areas with cultural-historical value can receive grants, as can municipalities with such areas. The program prioritizes applications based on the cultural-historical value of the areas, accessibility for fire services, risk of fire spread, effectiveness of proposed measures, and whether new methods with transferability to other areas are being tested. The grant program is administered by Trøndelag County Municipality with funding allocation from the Norwegian Directorate for Cultural Heritage (Riksantikvaren). Applications must be submitted by November 1st each year, and award letters are sent out during the spring following the review process.
