Akershus fylkeskommune offers public funding support for broadband infrastructure development on behalf of the Digitaliserings- og forvaltningsdepartementet (Ministry of Digitalisation and Public Governance). The program provides financial support to municipalities and regions in Akershus for broadband expansion projects serving households and businesses that lack basic broadband access. For 2025, NOK 27,201,124 is available for allocation. The county council determines which projects receive support within the economic framework and is responsible for joint competitive procurement of approved projects. Municipalities submit project proposals through the county's mapping portal, which generates address lists identifying eligible households and businesses in areas lacking adequate broadband coverage.
