This grant program supports the preservation, restoration and conservation of medieval buildings and structures in Norway dating from before 1537. The program provides funding for owners of protected medieval buildings to conduct restoration and maintenance work. Funding can be granted for securing, restoration, and heavy maintenance of protected medieval houses that help maintain a normal maintenance level while preserving the buildings' source value. Support is also available for initiatives that contribute to documentation, knowledge development, or research about medieval buildings. When distributing grants, emphasis is placed on whether the work is carried out in a way that preserves and strengthens traditional building crafts for such structures.
