About this opportunity

This grant program provides financial support to grocery stores operating in remote areas of Troms county, Norway. The purpose is to ensure that residents in small communities and remote locations have access to essential grocery retail services in their local area. The county council has allocated 640,000 NOK for this program in 2025. Eligible stores must be located in remote areas, defined as being at least 15 km from the nearest alternative grocery store, or on islands without mainland connections, or in areas with particularly difficult access to alternative grocery options. The program requires matching funds from the local municipality, which commits to financing half of the grant for up to three stores. Applications from stores are submitted through their local municipality, which then submits recommendations to the county council for final approval and funding decisions.
