About this opportunity

Nordland fylkeskommune (NFTU) provides grants for physical traffic safety measures to traffic-safe municipalities. The primary goal is to improve traffic safety in areas where children travel, with a particular focus on school children along school routes. The program supports both planning and construction phases of traffic safety projects. Municipalities can apply for subsidies for the preparation of regulatory plans and/or construction plans, and once approved plans are in place, they can apply for construction funding. Special emphasis is placed on 'Hjertesone' (heart zone) initiatives, which aim to minimize car traffic in geographic areas around schools by placing parking and drop-off zones outside these areas. The program allocates approximately 14-15 million NOK annually and requires municipalities to be certified as Traffic-Safe Municipalities with valid traffic safety plans. Projects must be completed within 24 months, with reporting and documentation required before final disbursement.
