About this opportunity

This grant supports municipalities, county municipalities, organizations, and private project owners in planning, implementing, and monitoring nature restoration projects. The scheme provides funding for projects that contribute to restoring degraded nature in areas outside protected areas. Nature restoration is defined as measures that contribute to improving or restoring the condition of ecosystems that have been degraded or destroyed, with the goal of having well-functioning ecosystems that deliver important ecosystem services. The grant can be provided for implementation of restoration projects, as well as for planning and follow-up of measures. Follow-up involves ensuring proper implementation in accordance with laws and regulations, project description and implementation plan. Projects must demonstrate substantial and lasting impact, and cannot include routine maintenance or management of nature types. Priority is given to cost-effective projects that can be implemented with good professional competence in nature restoration, and projects in accordance with adopted municipal sub-plans for biodiversity are prioritized. Nature-based solutions are preferred over foreign elements and technical installations.
