About This Opportunity

This grant program aims to promote outdoor recreation activities in state-secured outdoor recreation areas and areas protected as outdoor recreation areas under the Marka Act. Through environmentally friendly facilitation and maintenance, the areas are made easily accessible and attractive for public outdoor life. The program supports development, facilitation, and maintenance of state-secured outdoor areas through measures such as information boards, access roads, parking lots, hiking paths, fishing spots, accessibility improvements for people with reduced mobility, swimming areas, piers, toilets, waste facilities, planting and maintenance, and cultural heritage communication. Only municipalities and intermunicipal outdoor recreation councils with local management responsibility for an area can apply. An approved management plan for the area is required. The grant prioritizes areas in or near cities and densely populated areas, areas with high usage potential, areas with limited accessible shoreline, and areas near inland waterways. Projects that include self-financing or volunteer work efforts are prioritized.
