Tilskudd til tiltak i verdensarvområdene

This grant program provides funding for projects that strengthen agriculture in Norway's three UNESCO World Heritage areas: Vegaøyan, Vestnorsk fjordlandskap (West Norwegian Fjords including Geirangerfjorden and Nærøyfjorden), and Røros bergstad og Circumferensen. The program has been funded annually since 2008 through the agricultural agreement. The grant supports measures that preserve and strengthen the agricultural cultural landscape in these areas, which are critical to maintaining their World Heritage status. Eligible activities include restoration and management of land areas, maintenance of buildings and cultural monuments, accessibility projects for outdoor recreation, documentation and planning initiatives, and other measures that promote the program's purpose. The program recognizes that the World Heritage values in these areas are closely tied to active agriculture, and that these values would be significantly weakened if agricultural activity were to decline or cease. Norway has an international commitment to preserve these values under UNESCO World Heritage obligations.
