About this opportunity

The Norwegian Environment Agency (Miljødirektoratet) provides annual grants to municipalities that collect chronic wasting disease (CWD) samples from dead wildlife cervids. The grant is provided as a fixed rate per animal and is paid retroactively to the municipality. Payment requires that the municipality has registered the dead wildlife in the Cervid Registry and that the CWD test result is linked to the animal. Municipalities receive grants per dead wildlife specimen from which their tracking personnel, or others paid by the municipality, have taken CWD samples. The grant covers samples collected during the dead wildlife year, which runs from April 1 to March 31. A fixed grant of 500 NOK is provided per CWD sample and 300 NOK per jaw. Only municipalities invited by NINA to participate in age mapping of dead wildlife should submit jaws.
