About This Opportunity
The grant program supports practical wildlife management measures that promote sustainable wildlife management and contribute to harvestable surplus of game while preserving productivity and diversity in nature. The program aims to facilitate recruitment and value creation based on hunting and trapping as part of outdoor recreation. Voluntary organizations, institutions, municipalities, and individuals can apply for funding for various wildlife-related initiatives. Eligible activities include facilitating value creation and recruitment to hunting and trapping, information about hunting opportunities, mapping of wildlife resources and habitats, integrating wildlife interests in municipal plans, establishing local cooperation councils, participating in rights holders' management planning work, and management-oriented research and monitoring. As of January 1, 2025, the Norwegian Agriculture Agency took over management responsibility for harvestable wildlife species, while the Norwegian Environment Agency continues to handle non-harvestable species. Applications for regional measures for harvestable wildlife species (except wild reindeer, greylag goose, and pink-footed goose) should be addressed to the county municipality, while applications for non-harvestable species and the three exceptions should be addressed to the County Governor. Applications from central organizations or for measures of national character are addressed to the Norwegian Agriculture Agency for harvestable species and to the Norwegian Environment Agency for non-harvestable species.
