About this opportunity

This grant provides financial support to reindeer herding units (siidaandeler) and reindeer teams (reinlag) that have experienced significant losses of reindeer due to unforeseen and acute accidents. The subsidy is designed to cover expenses incurred by affected reindeer herding operations following catastrophic losses. To qualify, the loss must constitute at least 10 percent of the herd size or involve more than 150 reindeer, and must be caused by an unpredictable and acute event that could not have been prevented with reasonable effort. The incident must be documented by the regional state administrator (statsforvalteren), veterinarian, or official supervisory authority, and reported immediately to the relevant authorities. Applicants must have received production premiums in one of the three preceding years and maintain reindeer numbers in accordance with applicable regulations. The loss cannot have been compensated through other schemes, and applicants must have implemented necessary measures to prevent or limit the loss.
