About this opportunity

The Norwegian Environment Agency (Miljødirektoratet) administers a grant program where municipalities, municipal and inter-municipal waste facilities can apply for grants to handle scrapped recreational boats. The program is part of a state-financed support scheme for scrapped recreational boats approved by the Norwegian Parliament. The grant scheme aims to ensure proper handling of scrapped recreational boats and stimulate increased collection for material recycling and other legal treatment, thereby preventing scrapped boats from being improperly disposed of. The program covers boats used for sports and leisure with hull length up to 15.00 meters (49.21 feet), regardless of total weight, used outside commercial activities. The grant covers all or part of the costs for reception, transport to treatment facilities, environmental remediation, treatment and final disposal of scrapped recreational boats. Grant recipients can also use the grant to cover all or part of the boat owner's costs for delivery to reception facilities, or to introduce other incentives for delivery. Different application requirements and pre-approval processes apply depending on the type of applicant organization.
