About this opportunity

The Tim Fairfax Family Foundation Rural and Remote Education Bursary was established in 2010 by the Tim Fairfax Family Foundation (TFFF) to support Education students at the University of the Sunshine Coast. The bursary aims to provide students with valuable experience in rural settings or remote locations as part of their Workplace Learning and teaching experience during Professional Experience (PEx) placements. This bursary is specifically designed for domestic students enrolled in undergraduate Education programs or a Master of Teaching who are undertaking a UniSC-approved Professional Experience in a rural or remote location. The funding enables students to gain crucial teaching experience in communities that often face challenges in attracting and retaining educators. The value of the bursary is up to A$2,500, with the exact amount depending on the duration, location, and distance of the placement. Selection is based on academic merit and satisfactory completion of any previously undertaken Professional Experience. Applicants must complete and have an approved rural and remote application form and interview, coordinated through the university's professional learning team. Please note that this bursary is offered on a yearly basis through funds provided by an external donor. If funding is not available in any given year, the bursary will not be awarded. For Study Period 1 2026, applications are open and will close on 8 February 2026.
After all R&R Education placements are confirmed for the study period
