About this opportunity
The Timuel D. Black Community Solidarity Scholarship is awarded to an outstanding University of Chicago undergraduate or graduate student who exemplifies Timuel Black's spirit and commitments. The designated scholar receives an award of $5,000 to pursue research and a community-engaged project aligned with the work and legacy of Timuel D. Black, civil rights activist, oral historian, and educator. The scholarship supports projects that engage with civil rights activism, oral history, and/or education while incorporating community engagement. Only students who will be officially enrolled at UChicago during the 2025-26 academic year are eligible. Finalists for the scholarship are invited to participate in a personal interview with the scholarship committee.
