About This Opportunity

The Tom Pon Memorial Award is given to a Student Athletic Trainer with satisfactory academic standing of 2.7 on a minimum of 18 units of course weight, who is registered in graduate studies or completing the third or fourth year of the BKin degree program. The recipient will be selected based on the amount of volunteer experience completed related to athletic therapy or athletic training, the pursuit of professional development beyond the degree program relative to athletic therapy/training, and a demonstrated interest in the sport of football and the care of its participants. In the event that no eligible candidate can be found in the area of football, this award can then be given on the basis of the above criteria to an athletic trainer in any other varsity sport. This endowed award was established by the family and friends of Tom Pon and the Edmonton Eskimo Football Club to honor his memory and contribution to athletic training.
