About this opportunity
The Tom Wegmann Award is a biennial scholarship awarded in odd-numbered years to support Indigenous students pursuing medical education at the University of Alberta. This endowed award recognizes First Nation, Inuit, or Métis people of Canada in accordance with the Constitution Act, 1982, Part 2, Section 35(2) who are enrolled in any year of a Doctor of Medicine degree and have satisfactory academic standing. The selection process considers both academic standing and the applicant's demonstrated interest in Indigenous health care. This award was established by friends, colleagues, and family in memory of Tom Wegmann to support Indigenous representation in the medical profession and honor commitment to Indigenous healthcare.
