About This Opportunity

The Tommerup Indigenous Scholarship is part of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Scholarship Scheme at The University of Queensland. This scholarship was established in 2024 by a gift from an anonymous donor under The Queensland Commitment. The scholarship provides financial support of at least $5,000 for one year to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students experiencing financial hardship. The scholarship is available to both future and current UQ students enrolled in any coursework program at the undergraduate, honours, or postgraduate coursework level. Applicants must demonstrate financial hardship and provide Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander status verification. The scholarship aims to support Indigenous students across all study areas at the university. Selection is based on demonstrated financial hardship, personal qualities including leadership potential, academic ability, and other factors considered relevant to future academic success. Students only need to submit one application to be considered for all scholarships within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Scholarship Scheme, the Aspire Scholarship scheme, and the UQ Residential Scholarship scheme.
