About this opportunity

The third joint transnational co-funded call in the Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership (SBEP) focuses on 'Digitalisation and innovation for robust marine ecosystems, businesses and local communities to strengthen the competitiveness of the EU blue economy'. This EU partnership aims to promote the necessary transformation towards a climate-neutral, sustainable, productive and competitive blue economy by 2030, while facilitating a sustainable ocean for people by 2050. The call supports transnational research and innovation projects within five priority areas. Norwegian applicants can apply for three specific priority areas: climate-smart use, planning and management of the ocean at regional level; blue bio-resources, sustainable fisheries and aquaculture, and new bio-based products; and resilient coastal communities and businesses. The Research Council of Norway will not prioritize projects directly related to research and development in deep-sea mining or energy and maritime (shipping) sectors. This is a two-stage application process with a preliminary sketch deadline followed by full proposals for invited applicants only. The Research Council of Norway is participating with 2.75 million euros and will finance up to 280,000 euros per project, with an additional 50,000 euros available for projects with a Norwegian project leader/coordinator.
