About this opportunity
An award, valued at up to $5,000, is available annually for a mature undergraduate student enrolled in full-time degree studies, in any year and program, with little or no previous university-level education, who has returned to school after spending five or more years in the workforce and/or has been away from full-time education for five or more years. Candidates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents. Selection will be based on academic achievement and the candidate's ability to demonstrate their ambition to pursue advanced education in order to achieve goals and successes in life. Interested students are asked to apply by submitting a short essay wherein they describe their employment career to date, explain what has driven them to return to school, and how the program at Waterloo will lead to their chosen career path and future aspirations. Previous recipients of this award are not eligible. This fund is made possible by a donation from the estate of Trevor Edwards, who pursued a university degree later in life, and became an influential architect within the public sector.
