About this opportunity

The University at Buffalo Ongwe'onwe / Indigenous Student Scholarship is designed to reduce out-of-state tuition to the costs of in-state tuition for any student that is a certified/enrolled citizen in any US Federally recognized tribes and nations. The scholarship is named in recognition of the Haudenosaunee/Six Nations Confederacy, and their land where UB is grateful to reside and operate. The scholarship covers the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition for eligible indigenous students enrolled full-time in undergraduate, graduate, or professional degree programs. Students must be in good academic standing with at least a 2.00 UB GPA and be charged tuition as an out-of-state resident. Eligibility extends to certified/enrolled citizens of US federally recognized nations or tribes, children or grandchildren of enrolled NYS Six Nations/Haudenosaunee Nation citizens residing in the USA outside of NYS, or those with Canadian Indian status for one of the Haudenosaunee nations. Maximum term awarding eligibility varies by level: up to 10 terms for undergraduate, 6 terms for master's, and 12 terms for PhD programs.
