About this opportunity
The Uihlein-Ironman Sports Fund (UISF) of Lake Placid was created by the Henry Uihlein II and Mildred A. Uihlein Foundation, Ironman North America (World Triathlon Corporation), and Adirondack Community Foundation. This fund supports young athletes from Lake Placid and the Olympic region in achieving their sports dreams, and helps nonprofit organizations that foster and promote life-long sports and healthy lifestyles for local youth. The Fund has two main goals: providing necessary support to local nonprofit organizations that promote athleticism and engage area youth in traditional summer and winter sports, and providing financial support for competitive, local, young athletes with strong regional, national and international promise in traditional winter and summer sports. Individual awards are given to athletes aged 15-25 who demonstrate significant promise on the national and international stage and who face substantial economic hurdles. Organizational grants typically range from $250 to $2,000 and emphasize holistically improving grassroots youth sports development and training programs.
