About This Opportunity
The UniSC Asylum Seeker Scholarship supports asylum seeking undergraduate and postgraduate students in financial need by assisting with the costs of tuition and tertiary education. Accessing higher education is critical for many people seeking asylum as a means to living a meaningful life and most continue to face barriers in doing so. This scholarship aims to support those people seeking asylum in Australia by fully covering international student tuition fees for any undergraduate or postgraduate program that a recipient is eligible to enter at UniSC. Each scholarship provides full coverage of international student tuition fees for the entire duration of the recipient's degree program, plus a stipend of $4,000 per year (pro-rata for part-time study), and a one-off upfront payment of $1,000 in year 1. The stipend component is paid in eight fortnightly instalments of $250 per study period for the normal duration of the program. Continued enrollment is confirmed at Census Date in each Study Period. The scholarship is available to students on specific Australian visas including Bridging Visa E, Bridging Visa A, Temporary Protection Visa, Safe Haven Enterprise Visa, Temporary Humanitarian Stay Visa, and Temporary Humanitarian Concern Visa. Selection is based on financial need, other equity considerations and circumstances, and a personal statement. Two scholarships are available for Study Period 1 2026.
