University of Auckland Doctoral Scholarship

The University of Auckland Doctoral Scholarship (UoADS) is a competitive scholarship scheme offered in four rounds each year to support outstanding doctoral students. The scholarship provides comprehensive financial support for doctoral research including a tax-free annual stipend, full tuition fees coverage, and health insurance for international students. From 2024 onwards, the stipend includes an annual Consumer Price Index (CPI) adjustment to maintain its real value. The scholarship aims to enhance the university's research impact and excellence, nurture outstanding research talent, and support equity, diversity, and inclusion in research. In 2026, the scholarship duration is being extended from 36 to 42 months for most candidates, and the scholarship can be held part-time without needing to demonstrate compassionate or compelling reasons. Guaranteed scholarships are available for Māori and Pacific applicants with a qualifying programme GPA of 7.0 or above.
