About this opportunity
The University Undergraduate Scholarship is offered by the NZIF Foundation to students enrolled in forestry or forestry-related degree programs at New Zealand universities. The scholarship was established when the NZIF Foundation was created by the New Zealand Institute of Forestry in December 2011, taking over administration of this existing scholarship program.
The scholarship recognizes excellence at the student level and forestry aspirations. It provides financial support to undergraduate students pursuing careers in forestry and related fields. The scholarship aims to encourage and support the next generation of forestry professionals in New Zealand.
In assessing applications, the judges consider three main criteria: academic record, student background and forestry aspirations, and presentation of application and communication of ideas. The scholarship is funded from the Foundation's general funding and has been awarded annually since 2012.
The program has a strong track record of supporting students at various stages of their undergraduate studies, primarily at the University of Canterbury, with recipients studying Bachelor of Forestry Science, Bachelor of Engineering (Forest Engineering), and related degrees.
