University Winter Courses in Germany for Foreign Students and Graduates

This scholarship programme is designed for students, graduates and doctoral candidates to help them improve their knowledge of the German language (general language) as well as German regional and cultural studies. The programme funds attendance of language and regional studies courses that are offered by state or state-recognised German universities and by affiliated language schools. The courses are taught exclusively in German and last up to 6 weeks, starting in January and ending in February. Applicants must be registered at a university in one of the programme-related countries (except Germany) at the time of application and during the course. Scholarship holders receive a one-time payment of 2,151 euros (or 2,326 euros for those from Least Development Countries), along with a country-specific travel allowance and health, accident, and personal liability insurance benefits. The programme is currently not accepting applications until summer 2026.
