About this opportunity
The UPEI Women's Group Bursaries are awarded annually to two students at the University of Prince Edward Island. One bursary is designated for a mature, female student experiencing financial need, while the second is available to a student in any faculty who is experiencing severe financial need. The UPEI Women's group formed in 1971 as a social and support group for the then new University of Prince Edward Island. The group identified the need for greater public promotion of the University and a need to augment existing scholarship funds, leading to a series of campus tours for various Island Women's organizations and the highly successful annual scholarship fund fairs. By the end of 1984, their 'Dollars for Scholars' initiative had raised close to $40,000 for UPEI Women's Group scholarships and bursaries, demonstrating a longstanding commitment to supporting students in financial need.
