About This Opportunity

Through the UQ-IITD joint-PhD program, students can receive a scholarship to study at two world-leading, research-intensive institutions – The University of Queensland (UQ) and the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi (IITD) – on multidisciplinary projects. Upon successful completion of the program, students will be offered a jointly awarded Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from both UQ and IITD. The program spans up to 4 years and provides benefits including a global qualification, generous scholarship funding, world-class facilities and resources, research ecosystem and network access, global expertise through joint supervision, and industry input. Students can pursue projects aligned with interdisciplinary themes including Healthcare and Biotechnology, Quantum Technologies, Digital Futures and Artificial Intelligence, Societal Transformations and Livelihoods, Clean Energy and Sustainability, and Advanced Materials and Manufacturing. There are two student pathways: i-students (Indian nationals and non-Australian international applicants) spend their first year at IITD, one year or more at UQ, then complete their PhD at IITD. Q-students (Australian domestic and non-Indian international applicants) spend their first year at UQ, one year or more at IITD, then complete their PhD at UQ.
