About this opportunity
The URGSA Travel Awards are designed to assist Master's and Ph.D. students with costs associated with travel for presentations of paper, posters, or other creative work pertinent to their studies. Approved events include conferences, major festivals, case competitions or other artistic events sponsored by recognized national or international organizations. This is a post-travel award, meaning students apply after attending the event.
The program offers two competition periods annually: Fall Semester Competition and Winter Semester Competition. Each competition offers 8 awards at $750 for domestic or international travel, and 3 awards at $1250 for domestic or international travel with a preference for international travel. Students must have been enrolled and registered in a graduate program at the University of Regina in good standing during the semester that the travel took place.
To be eligible, students must have presented a paper, poster, or other creative work at a conference or event relevant to their program, or participated in a case competition. The application requires proof of acceptance, a one-page abstract of the work presented, detailed expense documentation with receipts, and a statement demonstrating financial need. Academic Unit support is also required through a brief email from the Graduate Coordinator or Supervisor.
Students may receive this funding once at the Master's level or twice at the Ph.D. level. Preference is given to those demonstrating financial need. The award helps cover expenses such as economy airfare, mileage, hotel accommodations, and food costs associated with conference or event attendance.
