U.S. Graduate Student Program (Degree or Research)

Swedish Fulbright Commission Original Source

About This Opportunity

The Fulbright U.S. Graduate Student Program provides funding for American students wishing to study at the pre- and graduate levels and/or conduct independent research in Sweden. This grant provides a monthly maintenance allowance for nine months and a one-time travel/relocation allowance. The program is designed for students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance and leadership potential, and who will serve as unofficial ambassadors promoting mutual understanding between the United States and Sweden. Applicants must be U.S. citizens who hold a bachelor's degree (or will hold one before the grant begins) but may not yet hold a doctoral degree. Preference is given to applicants whose higher education was received primarily at educational institutions in the United States and to candidates who have not resided or studied recently in Sweden for more than six months. Student researchers are required to provide a letter of affiliation in their Fulbright application, while students proposing graduate degree enrollment will need to provide a letter of admission/acceptance prior to the start of their Fulbright grant. The program includes additional benefits such as dependent allowance when applicable, accident and sickness insurance, and access to cultural events and activities.
