About this opportunity
This scholarship provides support to students majoring in American Studies at the University of Sydney who are experiencing financial hardship. The USSC Undergraduate Equity Scholarship in American Studies is funded by the United States Studies Centre and aims to assist undergraduate students pursuing American Studies while facing various forms of financial disadvantage.
The scholarship is awarded based on academic merit, an interview, and a personal statement demonstrating why the applicant is studying American Studies, their commitment to the field, and the impact their financial hardship has on their studies. Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic performance throughout the scholarship tenure.
Eligible students include those who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, those from low socio-economic backgrounds, students with carer responsibilities, those with long-term medical conditions or disabilities, sole parents, students from regional or remote areas, refugees, LGBTIQ+ individuals, and first-generation university students. The scholarship provides crucial financial support to ensure these students can complete their undergraduate studies in American Studies.
