About This Opportunity

The Utah Transfer Merit Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship for resident transfer students with a high cumulative GPA who have completed a two-year college program or its equivalent. The scholarship provides $5,000 per year ($2,500 per semester for fall and spring semesters) to help cover tuition and mandatory fees for students enrolled full-time. The award is renewable for up to four semesters (fall and spring), or until the student receives a baccalaureate degree, whichever comes first, as long as the recipient continues to meet scholarship renewal requirements and remains in good standing. To be eligible, students must have an Associates Degree or equivalency in hours (45-60 transferrable credits) at the time of application and must be Utah residents. Students must complete the admissions process by February 1, and no additional application is necessary. The scholarship applies to the University of Utah's main campus only. To maintain the scholarship, students must be enrolled full-time (minimum 12 credit hours per semester), maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, and complete at least 24 credit hours during the two semesters of the academic year. The scholarship is available beginning Fall 2025 and generally does not apply to summer enrollment or Learning Abroad programs. Once the scholarship is lost due to failure to meet renewal or good standing requirements, it cannot be regained.
