Varagur Vaikunta and Sarada Srinivasan Memorial Prize

The Varagur Vaikunta and Sarada Srinivasan Memorial Prize is awarded annually to a student who is entering second, third, or fourth year of studies in the Department of Music at the University of Alberta. The award recognizes students who have achieved superior academic standing in courses taken in Indian Music during the previous academic year, including Music 143, 243, 343, 543, 365, 565, and 566, provided the student's academic record is otherwise satisfactory. Students who are transferring to the University of Alberta from another post-secondary institution into the second, third, or fourth year of studies in the Department of Music are also eligible for the scholarship. In the event that no suitable candidate can be found, the award can go to a student specializing in Classical Music with preference given to a student majoring in an instrument. This endowed prize was established by Dr. (Raj) Varagur SV Rajan, P Eng and Family in memory of Varagur Vaikunta and Sarada Srinivasan.
