About this opportunity
The Venetian Research Program provides funding for advanced research scholars to conduct research in Venice and the former Venetian empire. The program supports travel to and residence in Venice and the Veneto, transportation within the region, and specific research expenses. Grants are awarded for research projects related to Venetian history, culture, and materials housed in libraries and museums. The program is designed for scholars with experience in advanced research at the graduate level or equivalent, including PhD students who have completed all course work and experienced curatorial or conservation staff of galleries and museums. Past grantees may also apply for subsequent one-time grants up to $3,000 for one month to work exclusively on Venetian materials in other libraries or museums outside the Veneto, provided the study is related to their previous Delmas grant. Award amounts vary based on length of stay, travel, and research costs, with grants rarely reaching the maximum amount of $20,000 for a full academic year.
