About This Opportunity

The Vera Allen Travel Award for Medical Sciences provides one or more travel grants to graduate students in the School of Medical Sciences at the University of Victoria. The award supports students who will be presenting their thesis work as a first author on a scientific abstract at a national or international scientific conference. The award specifically supports travel to conferences outside of British Columbia. Preference is given to PhD students, though Master's students are eligible if no PhD students qualify. Students must apply through the School of Medical Sciences with an application deadline of September 1st annually. Approval of recipients is made by the Faculty of Graduate Studies Graduate Awards Committee, upon recommendation from the Head of the School of Medical Sciences in consultation with the School's nomination committee. The minimum requirement for consideration is an A- average, and recipients must be full-time graduate students maintaining a minimum level of academic standing.
