About this opportunity
The Veterinary Science Placement Scholarship provides $500 in financial assistance to third-year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine students at the University of Sydney who are undertaking the compulsory Abattoir Placement at a site outside the Greater Sydney Area. This scholarship was established in 2025 in response to recent changes in abattoir placement allocations that have introduced additional unforeseen costs for students.
Applicants must demonstrate financial hardship or disadvantage and be approved to undertake the Abattoir Placement at a regional location. The scholarship is awarded based on evidence of financial hardship and a personal statement outlining how the scholarship will assist in facilitating the placement.
This scholarship is funded by the Sydney School of Veterinary Science at the University of Sydney through a donation from the Elsie Mary McNeice - Bequest. The award is provided as a one-off payment to support students with the additional costs associated with completing this compulsory veterinary training component in regional areas.
