The Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship is a brand new scholarship awarded for the first time in 2026 to students with exceptional academic performance at the University of Auckland. This prestigious scholarship provides comprehensive support including one year of catered accommodation in a University of Auckland Hall of Residence and $10,000 paid in four installments over the first four semesters of study. The accommodation benefits include catering, a private room, a range of activities and events, academic mentoring programmes, pastoral care, and free membership to the Hiwa Recreation Centre. The scholarship is designed to support exceptional students during their undergraduate degree studies and requires recipients to maintain high academic standards throughout their tenure.

Review process

Applicants who applied for the Top Achiever Scholarship for 2026 are automatically considered for this scholarship. Selection is based on results at Level 2 or higher in NCEA or equivalent qualifications, with consideration given to candidates with entry grade point equivalent (GPE) of 7.00 or above, external credits and credit weighting, and results in specific subjects.
