About This Opportunity

The Vincent and Carmel Forgione Memorial Scholarship in Law is designed to encourage and support high-achieving undergraduate and postgraduate students and alumni of the TC Beirne School of Law at the University of Queensland. The Scholarship provides $40,000 over two years to enable recipients to undertake a 10-month Fellowship Program with the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague, Netherlands. The objective of the Fellowship is to enhance the comprehension of international law and the procedures of the International Court of Justice. This prestigious scholarship is awarded once every two years to one outstanding candidate who demonstrates exceptional academic achievement, particularly in public international law, along with proven research and writing skills. Eligible applicants include students in their final year of a Bachelor of Laws LLB(Hons) (including dual degrees), students enrolled in the Master of Laws (LLM) at UQ, or recent graduates of approved programs from UQ. Selection focuses on academic excellence, performance in public international law courses, research and writing capabilities, work experience, international engagement, and community contribution. Preference may be given to applicants with proficiency in French or English (the ICJ's official languages) and working knowledge of the other.
