About this opportunity

This funding provides up to $18,000 to support development of individual Alberta artists, arts administrators, or an ensemble of artists by providing funding for a specific visual arts or new media project. The program supports artistic activities in art production, marketing, research, and training and career development. Eligible genres include drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, fibre art, ceramics, photography, fine craft, mixed media, installation art, public art, and media and/or computer-assisted art. Applicants may receive up to 100% of eligible expenses directly related to carrying out their proposed project. The AFA celebrates diversity and encourages applicants representing diverse communities, including Indigenous peoples, racialized communities, women, people with disabilities, and the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

Expert panel assessment based on project impact, artistic merit, budget appropriateness, and applicant's ability to carry out the project. Recommendations reviewed by AFA board.
